Botox® Cosmetic The cosmetic form of botulinum toxin, often referred to by its product name Botox®, is a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily reduces or eliminates frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck. The toxin blocks the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Dysport® Carp Cosmetic Surgery Center is pleased to announce that we are now offering Dysport®, a "botulinum toxin" similar to Botox® Cosmetic. Dysport was approved for use by the FDA for temporary improvement in the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines) in adults younger than 65 years of age. Dysport has been used outside the United States for more than 15 years. Initial reports suggest that Dysport may work quicker and last longer than Botox®, keeping wrinkles at bay for six months to one year, compared to the approximate three month timeframe associated with Botox®. (Please note that patients allergic to milk may not be treated with Dysport.)
