About Breast Reconstruction
After winning the battle against cancer, one of the first questions on your mind may be “how can I re-establish my breasts?” Whenever possible, we recommend breast reconstruction be performed during the same appointment as the mastectomy, which tends to be better for patients on a financial and emotional level. However, reconstruction can take place at a later time due to a variety of different circumstances.
Recovery from breast reconstruction typically requires at least six weeks. Patients should understand the seriousness of this procedure and give themselves plenty of time to rest so that the body can properly heal.
